Synopsis:

In this follow-up to Clipped Wings, the emotional love story continues between Hayden and Tenley; two young people who desperately want to love and be loved but are afraid to completely let go of their pasts.

In the wake of losing Tenley Page, tattooist Hayden Stryker’s tumultuous past is haunting him. Plagued by nightmares about the murder of his parents, Hayden reaches out again to Tenley. Having run from the man she doesn’t believe she deserves, Tenley finally lays her guilt to rest. Despite their intense physical attraction, Hayden and Tenley struggle to repair their fragile emotional connection. As Hayden gets closer to the truth, he must find a way to reconcile his guilt over his parents’ death in order to keep the woman who finally cracked his armor, and found her way into his heart.

My thoughts:

I have to be honest and let you all know that reading the sequel to an amazing book sometimes scares me a little bit, but I’ve learned that great authors write amazing sequels. That is just what Helena Hunting did with Inked Armor.

Review:

This second book is just as good as the first one but in a very different way. In Clipped Wings Tenley and Hayden meet for the first time and it results in a roller coaster of emotions for both of them.

Inked Armor starts with Hayden and Tenley knowing how they feel about each other. Both being aware of their need for closeness. Being together forever is the only option for them, but some things need to be taken care of before they can get to their Happily Ever After.

Clipped Wings ended with Tenley returning to Arden Hills with Trey so she could straighten up her dead fiancee’s will and put the past behind her once and for all. I loved how Tenley handled Trey, he was such a di**!!! But she did an amazing job, she was no longer the scared little mouse who ran away from confrontations. In this book Tenley stood her ground and came out on top. I felt like clapping a couple of times, she made me so proud!

I understand that every book has to have drama, a point in which the story takes a turn and you’re left holding your breath until everything works out in the end. Most of the time authors do this at their characters expense, but Hunting didn’t, and I absolutely loved that.

This story shows Tenley seeking forgiveness from Hayden for having left him so she could take care of her issues in Arden Hills. Three weeks later, Tenley returns to find a very upset Hayden. He will forgive her but he needs time, and the trust he had on her? She will have to regain.

On the other hand, Hayden is facing his own demons as he decides to get to the bottom of his parent’s unsolved murder. But what seemed to have been a simple break in gone wrong turns out to be a huge case where evidence was buried and tampered with to keep someone out of jail… Who was the perpetrator? Who buried evidence? Those are questions you keep asking yourself throughout the story.

This book was about Hayden and Tenley, united as one, facing adversities and conquering them together with Helena Hunting showing us once again how strong love can be!

I loved to see Tenley working hard to have Hayden understand how much she cared for him. I loved the dual point of views because it helps you see how Hayden feels and as a reader we understand both of them better. We see their hopes and fears and get to experience their love.

There was absolutely nothing I disliked about this book. Helena Hunting did an fantastic job and I cannot wait for Cracks in the Armor.
